Directions was established under the name Central Area Region
Training Scheme Inc (CARTS) as a Group Training Scheme
managing only apprenticeships in 1988, with its initial aim being to:
- Create employment;
- Create in the medium term a reservoir of skilled tradesmen
in industry, thus alleviating the necessity to “import” tradesmen;
and
- Create employment in the smaller country towns to assist in
retaining young people.
Following the successful introduction of a Group Training Scheme,
it was only natural that, with the introduction of Traineeships in 1993,
that the organisation extend their service and client base to include
trainees. Traineeships were introduced as part of the organisation’s
core business in 1993.
Initially the provision of services was focused around Northam and neighbouring localities. Today, we have clients in most towns in the
Wheatbelt and supply our professional services through to the
Upper Great Southern.
We currently have offices located in Northam, Midland,
and Narrogin.
In January 2006, Central Area Region Training Scheme became known
as 'Directions' through the introduction of a new trading name and logo.
