Jayden floors his assessment

Jayden SteerJayden Steer is proof that even when hurdles are thrown in your path, if you persist you can win.

Jayden, who hails from Northam, hit an unexpected roadblock in the final stages of his apprenticeship when the training provider delivering his off the job training ceased delivering his course in WA. It looked like completing his Certificate III in Flooring Technology was going to necessitate him travelling to Queensland which wasn’t practicable.

Directions was not content to see Jayden’s career progress stymied and approached another interstate training provider. Directions arranged for one of their trainers, when travelling to Perth, to work with and assess Jayden locally.

In a terrible twist of bad luck, just before the scheduled assessment was due to take place Jayden was involved in a motorbike accident and suffered injuries that left him unable to perform the necessary tasks to undertake the assessment.

After being suspended medically until he was well enough to continue, Directions was able to again schedule the assessment with training provider TFIA, who are part of the Council of Textile and Fashion, and with the support of Choice Flooring in Joondalup.

Jayden so impressed the assessor with his skills that he was signed off after only one day working with TFIA and Choices were impressed enough to offer him his first job as a tradesperson, doing a full house install.

Jayden’s persistence and determination got him to the finishing line and Direction couldn’t be prouder of what he has achieved.
