School-based traineeship sets Sarah on great path

Recognition, Success Stories

Sarah CummingA school-based traineeship is an excellent pathway for students to begin a career while still at school, enabling students to complete their secondary education and gain an industry recognised qualification with a history of paid employment.

An important feature of traineeships is the integration of the employment role with a structured training program to ensure participants develop the skills and competencies that employers and businesses want.

Directions Aboriginal Workforce Development Centre (AWDC) started assisting Sarah to find a traineeship late in 2016 and we are almost as excited as she is.

Sarah Cumming has now started an Aboriginal School Based Traineeship with Directions and hosted by the Water Corporation in Northam.

Sarah will complete a Certificate II in Business which will greatly improve her longer term career and employment prospects.

“Sarah has a friendly personality, big smile, great attitude, and could not wait to start her journey as a trainee”, said AWDC Coordinator Brenda DeAtta.
