Setting goals works for Darrin
Whether it’s getting a job, studying, or travel Darrin White has found setting a goal and then going for it is key.
Directions Aboriginal Workforce Development Centre Coordinator Brenda De Atta says Darrin’s great attitude, being a hard worker, and his big smile have given Darrin the tools for success. After assisting Darrin with updating his resume, cover letter writing, interview skills and career guidance, Darrin has gained employment with not one but two employers and is also completing his Certificate of General Education at Central Regional TAFE.
“Darrin was the perfect fit for the positions that came available, where he was able to transfer skills that he already had, which included the ability to work alone without supervision or as part of a team, health and safety awareness, the ability to follow job and safety instructions, trustworthiness, reliability and physical fitness,” Brenda said.
“Nothing slows Darrin down, he has such a great attitude towards everything he does in his life. He is a good role model for everyone around him.”
Darrin is working as a gardener/maintenance worker with Essential Personnel and as a kitchen hand at the Commercial Hotel in Northam and has set goals for trips he has planned for 2017, which include a cruise and traveling to Queensland.
