Persistence pays off for Dylan
Being out of work for a while can be disheartening but Dylan Grenfell is a younger jobseeker who proves that with the right help and persistence, you can get ahead.
Dylan has just secured employment following a two year employment gap with assistance from Directions Narrogin.
He started working with Directions’ Career Centre in Narrogin in May, having relocated from Perth. After his elder brother Blake secured employment following help from us, Dylan’s family suggested he contact Directions. Dylan had been out of work since December 2015 when he finished at a hospitality job and was really keen to get back into the workforce in his new community.
Rebecca at Narrogin Directions’ Career Centre assisted Dylan with career planning, producing a strong resume, writing covering letters, and applying for job roles online. Due to his employment gap, Rebecca also encouraged him to undertake volunteering within the local community to build his recent experience and gain new contacts and networks; including registering for the Step Into Volunteering event in Narrogin in October 2017. Following an online job application and online video assessment, Dylan secured an interview and was successful. He has now commenced his new role and we are proud of his achievement.
“Thank you to Rebecca for all of her hard work and advice. I was unemployed for 2 years before going into Directions and getting a job because of their help” Dylan told us.
