Quairading DHS finishes exciting year for Future Moves
One of Directions’ Career Centre’s most successful programs, Future Moves, has been delivered all across schools in the Wheatbelt during 2017 and is back again for 2018.
Future Moves is a career guidance program which helps students to identify career aspirations and goals through career exploration activities. Directions’ Career Development Officer Vikki Sinagra recently delivered the program at Quairading District High School in a series of career based workshops to year 7-10 students.
“It is always such a privilege to attend the local schools in the region and make an impact on one life at a time.” said Vikki, pictured with Quairading Deputy Principal Abby Kerr.
“I find joy in hearing about the career aspirations the students have. We are able to advise them on the steps they may need to take to achieve their career goals as well as assisting those who are not sure what path to take.”
Delivered through a series of in-class workshops, the students learn the importance and connection between their schooling and future career development. Future Moves also covers topics including lifelong learning and workforce preparation, career profiling and exploration, vocational education and training, apprenticeships and traineeships, university pathways, job search and application techniques, and developing a career action plan.
Directions’ Career Centre has been a longstanding part of the Wheatbelt community and their team is strongly committed to helping our local young people reach their full potential. If your school is interested in offering the Future Moves program, our team are taking bookings now for the remainder of this financial year.
