Career Directions is back for 2019!
Our Career Directions careers expo is on once again in Northam. Mark your diaries with the date – 11 September 2019.
Building on last year’s success, Directions is proud to again provide this free event for Wheatbelt students and jobseekers of all ages at the Northam Recreation Centre from 10am until 2pm.
The event will showcase employment opportunities from a wide range of industries. It will also feature training providers who can share information on courses and training pathways to your dream career or job. In addition, there will be loads of information on apprenticeships and traineeships from the local people that know them best; us!
There is also a strong focus on opportunities specific to Aboriginal students and jobseekers.
Career Directions 2019 will give all attendees a fantastic opportunity to engage with employers, explore career options and connect with the people and organisations who can help you navigate your own career path. The event is FREE but registrations are essential. You can register through Eventbrite
School groups are very welcome and teachers/organisers should contact email@example.com to discuss registration and arrangements.
Career Directions – Where will your career journey take you?
Directions’ inaugural ‘Career Directions’ careers expo in Northam was a huge success.
The event was supported by over 30 exhibitors showcasing employment, training, and higher education opportunities for local people for a diverse range of industry sectors and occupations, with a focus on indigenous employment and training opportunities.
It was the first of its kind to be organised and delivered by a local charity. Interested job seekers, students, and parents from across the region attended including groups from several private and public sector secondary schools.
Students were asked the question ‘Where will your career journey take you?’ as they enjoyed the opportunity to engage directly with employers, training providers, and other service agencies. Plenty of information and resources were provided to attendees throughout the event.
There were plenty of giveaways on the day thanks to the generosity of many local businesses and fruit and water provided to keep everyone refreshed while they learned.
Feedback from the event was really positive and will inform future planning but we would like to thank all the exhibitors, food providers and the many others who helped make this event a hit!
