First two charities get funded trainees

MATES in Construction WA and Share & Care Community Services Group in Northam are the first two organisations working with Directions as part of our Community Support Through Traineeships program.

Through the Community Support Through Traineeships program, charitable and not for profit organisations working tirelessly in our community will host a fully funded trainee in their organisations. The trainees will contribute to their internal capabilities and support their great work while learning on the job and working towards a nationally recognised qualification in Business.

For MATES in Construction that will mean a business trainee will work out of their East Perth location. MATES in Construction is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. It is owned and controlled by the Australian Building and Construction Industry. Since they started, over 180,000 people have received training and over 8,600 individual cases have been managed.

Share and Care Community Services will host their business trainee in their Northam office. Share and Care are a not for profit organisation that sponsors health, welfare and family services to regional communities. Founded in 1975 by a concerned group of community members in the town of Northam, the Share and Care organisation today has grown to provide 23 various services, and covers 250,000 square kilometres of the Coastal, Wheatbelt and Upper Great Southern areas.
