The Directions team delivering Jobs & Skills Centre Northam were invited to provide a series of employability workshops to assist Central Regional TAFE Diploma in Enrolled Nursing students prepare for the transition from their studies into employment.
Held at the Northam campus, the team delivered our well known Resume Essentials, Interview Essentials, and Selection Criteria workshops to provide the students with key skills, knowledge and techniques for their future employment applications.
Following the workshops, our Career Development Officers individually assisted the students with career actions plans and preparing the essential documents in preparation for the mock interviews which form part of their course requirements.
Jobs & Skills Centre team members conducted the mock interviews alongside nursing lecturers and administration staff to provide constructive feedback in a simulated interview scenario.
We were pleased to be told the participants gained both knowledge and confidence in applying for employment. Since then the students have now progressed through their applications and attended face to face interviews for graduate programs.
Three of the students got second round interviews for St John of God Hospital (2 in Midland and 1 in Subiaco) and one in Midland has now been accepted. One student each has attended first-round interviews with Fiona Stanley Hospital, Perth Children’s Hospital, and Hollywood Private Hospital
One student is continuing her training towards becoming a Registered Nurse and two others are considering or preparing for applications to the WA Country Health Service.
The students and lecturers revisited Northam Jobs & Skills Centre in person to show their appreciation. We wish them all every success in their health careers.
