Chris Day became a Directions apprentice back in July 2018 after his previous employer closed operations, leaving him unemployed and well behind in his apprenticeship program.
At that time Chris still had 5 blocks of TAFE to complete with only 18 months left to go on his apprenticeship and through no fault of his own.
Considerable liaison with TAFE and other stakeholders took place and with the valued support of Construction Training Fund (CTF) for our field staff, Directions was able to facilitate Chris’ completion without any need for an extension to his term.
Great determination and hard work has finally today paid off for fourth year carpentry and joinery apprentice Chris Day who completed his final TAFE block and was just signed off.
Chris was one of 21 apprentices Directions took on despite the challenges and cost involved, to see these West Aussies successfully complete their training.
We are delighted for Chris, and also thank Carpentry and Joinery Lecturer at North Metro TAFE, Andrew Gilchrist and host employer Hanssen, both of who played a significant role in helping Chris get over the line.
